Paestum, Salerno and Bufalo Mozzarella, start from Sorrento

Visitors to Italy often think of Rome, Venice, Naples, and the like as the must-see places, but there are many other towns that are just as significant, such as Salerno and Paestum. Explore these 2 cities on a full-day tour from Sorrento, visiting their monuments and museums and walking their streets. Spent an hour of free time walking along the Salerno seafront and visiting the cathedral or wandering through the pedestrian area. Then head on to Paestum to enjoy lunch before entering its archeological site. In medieval times, Salerno was the world’s capital of medicine. The Monastery of the Benedictine monks, who probably founded its medical school, offered the best instruction available at the time. One of the most famous medical texts of that time was the "Regimen Sanistas Salerni," written in Salerno in Latin and translated into almost every European language. In more modern times Salerno is best remembered for the landing of allied troops on its beaches during World War II. To the east of Salerno, after the headlands of Pontecagnano, Battipaglia, and Eboli, is Paestum. The town of Paestum was founded by the Greeks around 60 B.C. Its name derives from Poseidon (the god of the sea), to whom it was dedicated. It was during this period that the Basilica, the Temple of Poseidon, and the Temple of Ceres were built. Today the temples and ruins–built of a fine yellow limestone–standing in a bower of aromatic herbs, cypress, and oleander, are considered to be the finest examples of their kind. The nearby museum contains many fine sculptures found on the site and also the famous divers’ tomb. Look out for the buffalo that you will see grazing on the roadside during the drive. SICILY TOURS

Beaches Tour in Sicily

This tour starts from Ragusa at 09:00AM, where our driver will pick you up at your accomodation.  The first stop will be the beach of Marina di Ragusa, where you can enjoy the scenery and take a walk on the beach. A sea side resort with increasing tourism, Marina di Ragusa is consolidating its role as a center of seaside excellence, managing to attract the attention of Italian as well as foreign tourists. The golden beaches, the nightlife, the recently restored port tourist area, and the delicious Ragusan cuisine are an indispensable mix for those who decide to come and spend an intense period of sun, sea, and fun in Sicily. The sea waters are always crystal clear and calm.  The fine sand gently slopes downward into the sea, allowing a gradualdescent into the water.  The beaches are well maintained and equipped with different playing fields.  For sports lovers, basketball and soccer tournaments are frequently held in Piazza Malta.  For the beauty and cleanliness of its coastline,it was awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award in 2009. From there, we will take you to one of the beautiful beaches of Portopalo di Capo Passero.  In the province of Syracuse, in the southernmost tip of Sicily it is located the town of Portopalo. The site has returned numerous archaeological finds, such as, for example, large tanks greek Roman for tuna processing, evidence of ancient settlement in this part of the Mediterranean. Portopalo is a purely fishing town, dedicated to the processing of local products and agriculture. Only recently they were increased profits, focusing on tourism. Portopalo is a symbol of the Fishing Port, which boasts one of the most important maritime fleets of Sicily, both for the quality of the fish, for the personnel employed in fishing. But the real beauty of the small country lies in the morphology of its territory, very impressive, ranging from rocky coastlines to the beautiful beaches, visited every summer by many tourists and locals. Also Portopalo is wet by two seas, the Mediterranean Sea to the west and to the east the Ionian Sea. From the Ionian Sea, where once stood the square of the country, there are the remains of some "fishermen's houses", a unique tourist attraction. Finally facing the country and visible from the square is the huge island of Capo Passero, that belongs to the municipality of Portopalo. Its Spanish Fortress and the wonderful sandy beach are a symbol, along with the Lighthouse Cozzo Spadaro, this enchanting place.   After you have enjoyed your time in Portopalo, our driver will take you the final stop in this tour, the beautiful beach of Calamosche. If you love nature and are continually looking for wild places in which to spend hours of total relaxation, you cannot make a stop at the Calamosche beach. The Calamosche beach is an amazing natural swimming pool, the sea is always calm and deep waters. Calamosche Beach access is made possible by an entrance, accessible from the SP19. Once at the park, at your disposal, you'll have to take, walk a path of about a kilometer (15-20 minutes), which will lead you to one of the most beautiful and popular beaches of Italy. The beauty of the Calamosche beach lies in its clear waters and beautiful landscape, that you will contemplate swimming towards the reef, the sides of the gulf, where it will appear before your eyes an immense variety of marine fauna and flora.   In the end of the day you will be accompanied back to your accomodation around 05:00PM

Montalbano Tour (from Ragusa)

The tour will start from Ragusa around 9:00 AM. From Ragusa, we will take you to some of the locations in which the Italian tv series Il Commissario Montalbano was filmed.   With us, you will see: The Castle of "Donnafugata": the castle owes its name to the legend of the escape of queen Bianca di Navarra, widow of king Martino I of Aragon, that was taken prisoner in the castle by the Count Bernando Cabrera, that wanted to marry her and become king. It is more likely, though, that name derives from the discovery of the corpse of a woman dead by asphyxiation. In the fiction, the castle is the primary residence of the boss Balduccio Sinagra. Punta Secca: it is a little maritime village, that owes its name to its cliffs. In the square, you will see Montalbano's house overlooking the beach.  Donnalucata: a little maritime village. It ows its name to the ancient spring, that a famous arabian cartographer called "the spring of the hours". The name, in the latin version, became "Donnalucata".  Ragusa: the southernmost city in Sicily. It is known also as the city of brigdes. Ragusa is full of baroque buildings and churches. Its historic centre, known as Ragusa Ibla, is in the eastern part of the town. There, it is possible to admire more than fifty baroque churches and buildings. In the easternmost part of Ibla, you will see the "Giardino Ibleo", a beautiful garden, and the ruins of the ancient town of Hybla Heraia. Scicli: it is a baroque city, that, for the way it is built, has been assimilated to a nativity scene. The historic center is part of the "UNESCO" sites since 2002. The town hall represent the fictional police station in Vigata. Modica: it is best known for its repertoire of gastronomic specialies, especially chocolate. Its historic center is one of the most significant examples of late-baroque architecture. Sampieri: it is a maritime district near Scicli. It is situated on a rock spur between two beaches. Here you will see the ruin of the Furnace Penna, used as a location in some of the episodes of the series. At the end of the tour, our driver will pick you up at approximately 4:00PM to take you back to your accomodation.
